Testimonials “My Feet Aren’t Ugly”

Teenage Girls and Parents Raising Teenage Girls Praise “My Feet Aren’t Ugly: A Girl’s Guide to Loving Herself from the Inside Out”, a book by Debra Beck

“Simple advice that makes teenage girls feel better”

I wish My Feet Aren’t Ugly had been around when I was younger. It is a great guide for girls trying to get through the maze of being a teenager. It provides simple, easy to follow advice that helps you feel better about yourself and gives tips for making true friendships.

– Annalee Stewart Levine, Co-author of The Teen Quiz Book

“I couldn’t put Debra’s book down”

I’ve worked in public education for 25 years with a myriad of all ages.  I couldn’t put Debra’s book down because I felt a personal connection to the experiences that were being shared. Her heartfelt stories will powerfully touch the lives of children, teens and adults.

– Genna Adams

”Excellent Book on self-esteem for Teenage girls”

This book/journal is designed to boost the self-confidence of teen girls and I think it does a very good job. Every girl teen suffers from other teen girls gossiping about them and this book helps you to just ignore those things. Also, it helps you learn to overcome your fears and worries; it tells you why you fear those things and gives you tips on how to overcome those fears.

It gives you clear advice on how to avoid drugs and there is also a chapter about teen suicide; if you are on the edge of suicide, it gives you a telephone number and websites that will help you overcome your suicidal urges.

This book makes you feel good about yourself and helps you stop focusing on all the negative things.

“Great Book to develop self-esteem skills”

“My Feet Aren’t Ugly,” guides the young reader to understand and gain self-esteem through affirmation and self-reflection. Debra’s book allows space for the reader to get to know themselves better through journaling and self-reflection. The young reader will develop skills in areas such as creative thinking, positive thinking, understanding the importance of their health and goal setting. An excellent read that is also a great tool for all parents, teacher’s and counselors.

“My level of confidence has completely healed and I have absolutely
no fear…after reading your book”

In one of the most crucial times for social acceptance of a girl’s life,  I struggled with intense image issues because of a jaw deformity that I had no control over and at 14, I was tormented and rejected by my peers for looking “different” then the stereotypical pretty girl. As a result of this, I had little desire to attend school because I knew I could never escape the criticism that would come from the people I once called my friends.

My Dad knew what I was going through… my daily struggle with self-confidence issues, HE suggested I read a book written by a close friend of the family. I accepted the challenge to redirect my thoughts and I opened the book, My feet Aren’t Ugly……I saw myself through their eyes for the last time….

…At 19, I can now look back at this time in life and realize how much your book has influenced me. My level of confidence has completely healed and I have absolutely no fear of showing people what I am all about. I didn’t understand what beauty was all about… NOW I DO !!!

The trick is in what one emphasizes. We either make ourselves miserable, or we make ourselves happy. The amount of work is the same.
