Services for Parents of Teens

Parents Need Help Too!

Debra has been helping parents either develop a more connected relationship or mend a broken relationship with their teenager. She also coaches parents on ways to help their teens learn the skills of responsibility and the ability to make good decisions for themselves.

4 Weeks to connect with your Teen

• Do you want your teen to start making good decisions?
• Do you want to understand your teen to communicate better?
• Do you want a harmonious relationship with your teen?
• Find out how…

Debra gives parents the tools they need to help their teenager develop better self-esteem, therefore creating a harmonious relationship between parent and teen.

Parents have always found it easy to discuss issues about their teenagers with Debra; she has no judgments because she has walked in the same shoes they have walked in. Debra’s way of looking at the world and issues facing teenage girls helps parents develop the skills they need to have a more connected and fun relationship with their teenager. Check out My Feet Aren’t Ugly: A Girl’s Guide to Loving Herself from the Inside Out, written for teen girls on self-esteem, and participate through reading the chapters together.

Testimonial

Our family has been working with Debra for over 2 years. She has provided guidance and facilitated communication for me and my husband to ‘get on the same page’ about parenting a pre-teen/teen, which is no joke. She has also been a trusted confidant and friend to our 11-/13-year old daughter, who has opened up to Debra and enjoys talking to her now – especially when we’ve upset her. Debra has been a great resource for all three of us to navigate the waters of living in a home with a pre-teen/teenager.  She is very down-to-earth, direct, yet still approachable to pre-teen/teen girls and their parents alike. We’ve been amazed at small ideas and techniques she suggested, which have helped bring peace and fun back into our home lives.  It has been an absolute pleasure and miracle to have her in our lives, and I recommend her to anyone needing encouragement during these tough teenage years that can make or break a family.

Thanks, Debra. You are a life-saver and we love you!

Debra offers services for Parents, Schools, (both public and boarding) and any group wanting the tools to have a better relationship with teenagers

Services that support our youth

Speaking Engagements on issues parents and educators have with today’s youth:

Teen pregnancy, what you need to know

Why are more and more teenagers participating in casual sex? How can you help your teen understand the ramifications of being sexual before they are ready? How can we help educate our teens to make better decisions for themselves? The answers to these questions will give you the tools you need to better serve our youth.

What is technology doing to our teens?

Have teens stopped communicating face to face? What long term effects are cell phones, computer games, and Ipods having on our youth today? Is it too much stimulation?

Building confident teens in a world with little confidence

Whose responsibility is it to guide our teens and make sure they feel good about themselves? What do we as adults need to do to teach them to like themselves and feel confident? Are our teens being affected by other teens through bullying?

Peer Pressure, too much pressure for our teens

How do we encourage our teens to make their own decisions based on what’s right for them, not what’s right for their friends. Self-esteem plays a big part in avoiding peer pressure. How do we give our teens the tools to say NO!?

Media Bombardment, how does it affect our teens?

Movies, TV, Magazines, Computers: our teens are being bombarded with the media. Who is raising our kids, us or the media? Learn what you can do to lessen the effects of the media.

Diet and Body Image

Why is so much emphasis being put on dieting and having a thin body with our teens girls today? What triggers eating disorders, and how can we teach our teens about healthy eating habits?

The trick is in what one emphasizes. We either make ourselves miserable, or we make ourselves happy. The amount of work is the same.
