Needing a Mothers Support at all Ages

Triggers, Empathy and Support: The Healing Benefits of an Adult Mother Daughter Retreat Needing a Mothers Support at all Ages

It’s sometimes difficult for mothers and daughters to feel empathy for each other, and this is often due to being triggered. There are a few reasons that mothers and daughters have the ability to easily trigger one another.

  • The connection between mother and daughter is deep, which means both are highly vulnerable.
  • The wounds from a damaged connection can fester and worsen over time.
  • A mother is such an important part of a daughter’s development that issues can lead to serious emotional problems.
  • A daughter is often a large part of a mother’s personal identity, so problems with the connection can create issues with a mom’s self-esteem.
  • A specific incident or trauma from the past could be haunting both mom and daughter.

Recognizing Triggers at Adult Mother Daughter Retreats

One of the first steps toward healing adult mother daughter relationships is recognizing triggers and their sources. A lot of people are not aware enough to realize that the surface issues they’re upset about are not the actual problem. At your mother daughter retreat, you’ll have the safe space to dig deep and figure these things out. When you can express and explain your triggers to one another, you’ll develop more empathy for where the other is coming from. A triggered daughter will shy away from opening up to her mom, and a triggered mom will struggle to offer proper support. It isn’t about perfection, either. Even making strides toward healing these issues will do a lot to improve adult mother daughter relationships.

At a recent retreat, I met a lovely mother and daughter who were both completely shut down at the beginning of the retreat. Through talking out their issues and showing love and empathy for each other, they were able to begin recognizing why they were each triggered and healing the damage. By the end of the treat, they were hugging and sharing openly with each other.

Adult mother daughter retreats are powerful healing catalysts that can be life changing. If you’re interested in signing up, please contact me today.
